We are pleased to announce that award winning artist Laura Levine will exhibit drawings and sculpture at the gallery on Friday, April 3rd from 6-9 pm! Make plans to join us for a great event featuring colorful, metaphysical figurative sculpture.
Laura’s selections for this show are based upon contemporary mythology. Some of her pieces are contemporary renderings of ancient biblical or pagan myths. Others are created from her own personal mythology.
More About Artist Laura Levine:
Laura lives and works in central Indiana, but her artwork has exhibited nationally and
internationally as far away as Florence, Italy. She has won many local art competitions;
most recently first place showings at Minnetrista Art Show & Sale in Muncie, IN
and the FLAVA FRESH juried art competition series in Indianapolis – both during
the past year. A full list of her awards and exhibitions is available on her website at LLevineFineArt.com.
Our next First Friday exhibit will feature LaDonna Goshow, an Indianapolis artist who will present her recent work. Join us on Friday, February 6th from 6-9 pm for art, snacks, and live music from Sarah Grain and Kara Beth Treasure!
Works of art will be for sale, and all proceeds will go toward the launch of Agni Health & Healing, a small business that focuses on wellness through life coaching, therapeutic yoga, intuitive counsel, energy work and aromatherapy. Money raised through the art exhibit will go toward renting an office space, purchasing supplies and starting a scholarship program for those who may need help but are struggling financially.
For more information about Agni Health & Healing (pricing, scheduling, etc.), contact LaDonna Goshow at email@example.com.
We hope to see you in February for some fresh art and music!

Join us on Friday, November 7th from 6-9 pm at the gallery as we present a collection of brand new paintings by Indianapolis artist Jeff Litsey! This is the second installment of pieces in Jeff’s “Manifest Destiny” series and it will explore the complex relationship between nature, native peoples and modern society.
The event is free and open to all ages. Snacks and beverages will be provided and Jeff will be on hand to answer questions about his work. Mark your calendars!
Many of you know that our neighbors across the street at Calvin Fletcher’s Coffee Company operate as a non-profit organization. They strive to provide high quality, ethical products and have worked very hard to become a place where the community can gather and feel at home. One of the shop’s upcoming projects is to purchase a coffee roaster and begin sourcing and roasting their own beans.
That’s where we come in! On Friday, October 3rd the gallery will host an art exhibit that will feature work from lots of talented local artists. All of the pieces will be for sale and there will be options to suit a variety of budgets. The proceeds from this exhibit will go entirely to Calvin Fletcher’s so they can get closer to their goal of purchasing a roaster. If you have always wanted to invest in a piece of local artwork and would like to help a great local organization, please join us next Friday!
We’ve got a great show lined up for September’s first Friday! Jonathan McAfee will be sharing a collection of all new portraits. Come and see us at the opening reception on Sept. 5th from 6-9 pm. We’ll have snacks, beverages, and music by DJ Ryan Lee. This is one that you won’t want to miss!
As we move into the spring season, there are some transitions taking place at Fletcher Place Arts & Books. If you’ve stopped by recently, you may have noticed that the space has gotten a tune-up and a new paint job thanks to some wonderful volunteers! We have also experienced some transitions in leadership. Julia Phoebus has decided to step down as gallery director to pursue other projects. We are SO grateful to her for the energy, passion and vision that she brought to Fletcher Place Arts & Books! Julia and former director Christie McNabb laid a strong foundation of organization and programming that we hope to build upon as we move forward.
Since the space serves many purposes, we have decided to split the gallery director role into two separate positions. This will help distribute the workload and allow for more creative collaboration.
Emily Litsey will be our art coordinator. Her responsibilities include reviewing applications for art exhibits, meeting with and selecting artists for monthly exhibits, assisting artists with the installation process and overseeing First Friday events.
Sarah Pederson will be our events coordinator. Her responsibilities include managing the schedule of community events and assisting patrons who are interested in renting the space.
You can reach Sarah and Emily by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We look forward to facilitating many more events that celebrate art and community!
