We’ve got a great show lined up for September’s first Friday! Jonathan McAfee will be sharing a collection of all new portraits. Come and see us at the opening reception on Sept. 5th from 6-9 pm. We’ll have snacks, beverages, and music by DJ Ryan Lee. This is one that you won’t want to miss!
As we move into the spring season, there are some transitions taking place at Fletcher Place Arts & Books. If you’ve stopped by recently, you may have noticed that the space has gotten a tune-up and a new paint job thanks to some wonderful volunteers! We have also experienced some transitions in leadership. Julia Phoebus has decided to step down as gallery director to pursue other projects. We are SO grateful to her for the energy, passion and vision that she brought to Fletcher Place Arts & Books! Julia and former director Christie McNabb laid a strong foundation of organization and programming that we hope to build upon as we move forward.
Since the space serves many purposes, we have decided to split the gallery director role into two separate positions. This will help distribute the workload and allow for more creative collaboration.
Emily Litsey will be our art coordinator. Her responsibilities include reviewing applications for art exhibits, meeting with and selecting artists for monthly exhibits, assisting artists with the installation process and overseeing First Friday events.
Sarah Pederson will be our events coordinator. Her responsibilities include managing the schedule of community events and assisting patrons who are interested in renting the space.
You can reach Sarah and Emily by e-mail at email@example.com.
We look forward to facilitating many more events that celebrate art and community!

Give Hope, Fight Poverty is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to foster philanthropy domestically by designing service-learning programs that engage US students and professionals with communities abroad and work together to educate, empower and lift orphaned and vulnerable children out of poverty. First Friday is tomorrow and we have a wonderfully talented featured arts for May: Michelle Pendergrass. Through the use of mixed media and acrylics, Michelle is able to process life through her creativity. “Ugly and beautiful intersect on canvas as I work through figuring out who I am and what’s left of me as I dig through the layers to unearth that which I thought was dead. The loss is extravagant. The Grace is sufficient.” –From Michelle’s artist statement. You can find more information about Michelle and her art on her website.
Join us tomorrow evening, May 3rd, from 6-9PM to meet the artist and check out her work.
